CULTURAL CONTRIBUTIONS

We have pursued and supported community-based projects over the years. We value working within our own communities in Virginia helping to raise money and awareness for local organizations. This work some times comes in the form of donated programming, concept work or site analysis. We gain so much in return: an investment in our home places. 

Culture is the other half of sustainability. Without being sentimental, a sense of place is essential to good design. Applying aspects of the regional vernacular to our projects provides an immediate sense of place even for new construction. When people see the familiar materials, form, or roof of an agrarian building in the design, they understand where the building comes from.
