Austin graduated from Howard University in the District of Columbia, where he earned his bachelor’s in architecture in 2020 before coming to work with Carter + Burton. During his studies, Austin put his focus on forms of vernacular architecture, with a particular slant towards residential designs. Attention was put into drawing context from surrounding architectural forms to figure a design which tied into the surrounding community, instead of standing out. While not in the office, he enjoys taking his time painting model miniatures.
