MICHELLE

Michelle graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia, with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design. Michelle's studies focused on Interior Architecture and the conceptual integration of
building materials, site, and function ofspace. While at Virginia Tech, she was selected to
participate in an interdisciplinary program with industrial designers and architects, which focused on furniture design. Prior to working
with Carter + Burton, Michelle worked on the reuse and revitalization of Federal Triangle
(Ronald Reagan, ICC / Customs, and Ariel Rios Buildings) in Washington, DC, for the EPA. Michelle joined the team of Carter + Burton in August 2001 to offer services in Interiors Design. The firm specializes in residential, commercial, and institutional work, while focusing on contemporary concepts, sustainable design, and healthy house issues. The Interiors and Architecture teams will work together to select materials and will complement each other in serving the client towards the final product.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
2001-Present Carter + Burton Architecture, P.L.C., Berryville, VA

 

1999 – 2001 Residential Interiors – Healthy House, Front Royal, Virginia: Worked with the architect and the client to develop an interiors concept that reinforced the architecture of the new home; specification and procurement of furnishings, fixtures, and equipment that meet the needs of a chemically sensitive client.

 

Residential Interiors – Red Oak Mountain, Woodville, Virginia: Development of overall design concept and color schemes; specification and procurement of furnishings, fixtures, and equipment that reinforce the design concept and compliment the architecture and the site.

 

Residential Interiors – The Glen, Millwood, Virginia: Assisted in the development ofan overall design concept for the living and dining areas; provided furniture layout options; specified and procured furnishings, fabrics, and fixtures; coordinated the fabrication and installation of window treatments.

 

Commercial Interiors – Shockey Pre-Cast, Winchester, Virginia: Worked with David Ganse, AIA, coordinating, selecting, and specifying systems furniture finishes and fabrics, flooring, wall-coverings and paints, window treatments, freestanding furniture, and built-ins.
